This subtopic will teach you about the origin of the Black Panthers.Working in a community center, Huey and Bobby, were inspired by Stokly Carmichel to make the Black Panthers. The Black Panthers were founded in Oakland California in October 1996. Participation in the Panther organization, was approximately 1,500 including people from Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Seattle. The Black Panthers was formed to protect black residents from what they thought was police brutality. It died out during the mid 1970's when the FBI started to infiltrate, weakening them from the inside.
